The Capsule Wardrobe Series: Episodes 1–3 Recap
If you've been following along with our Capsule Wardrobe Series, you already know we're on a mission to help you build a closet that actually works for your life — not one that just sits there overwhelming you every morning. We're three episodes in, and it felt like the perfect time to pause, recap what we've covered, and get you ready for what's coming next.
Let's break it down.
Episode 1: Welcome to the Series
Why building a wardrobe with intention changes everything.
Every great capsule wardrobe starts with a closet audit — decluttering what you have and getting honest about what's actually missing.
Here's the thing we want to make clear right from the start: a capsule wardrobe does not mean getting rid of everything you own or living in nothing but black, white, and beige forever. It's about curating pieces that:
- Mix and match effortlessly
- Fit your lifestyle
- Fit your body
- Make getting dressed simple
- Help you shop with intention instead of impulse
The most important takeaway from Episode 1? Your capsule wardrobe should reflect your life. A work-from-home wardrobe looks different from an office wardrobe. A busy mom, a teacher, someone retired, or someone who travels often all need their closets to support their specific routine — not a one-size-fits-all Pinterest board.
Episode 2: Denim (The Foundation)
"Before you buy another top... let's fix your denim."
If Episode 1 was about mindset, Episode 2 got real: most of us own too many jeans and not enough good jeans. And if your jeans don't fit right, honestly, nothing else in your closet will either.
The goal isn't five pairs that are just "okay" — it's a few pairs you'll reach for again and again. Here's what we recommend having on rotation:
Washes:
- Light wash
- Classic medium wash
- Dark wash
- Black
Silhouettes:
- Straight leg (a must-have)
- Wide leg (for variety)
- Relaxed or boyfriend fit (perfect for casual days)
- Skinny — if that's genuinely your thing, keep the one pair you love
Rise:
- Mid-rise and high-rise are the most versatile and pair with almost everything
When your denim actually fits, getting dressed becomes so much easier — and outfits instantly look more polished. No more standing in front of the closet saying, "I have nothing to wear."

Episode 3: Basic Tees & Tanks
The foundation of every outfit.
Basic tees and tanks quietly do all the work in your wardrobe — but "basic" doesn't have to mean boring. Episode 3 walked through how to choose the right ones:
- Colors: Start with a few go-to shades that work with what you already love — white, black, cream, soft neutrals, or a pop of your favorite color.
- Fit: A fitted tank, a classic tee, and a slightly oversized option can completely transform the look of an outfit.
- Fabric: Look for pieces that feel good, hold their shape, and can actually keep up with real life.
The magic of a great basic is versatility. Pair a tee with denim and sneakers for an easy everyday look, layer it under a blazer to dress it up, or tuck it into trousers or a skirt for a polished finish. Tanks are just as flexible — great on their own now, and perfect layered under jackets, cardigans, or sweaters as the weather shifts.
The goal was never to own a million basics. It's to own the right ones that make getting dressed effortless.

Stay Tuned for Episode 4
We're just getting started! We've covered mindset, denim, and basics — and there's so much more capsule wardrobe goodness on the way. Episode 4 is coming soon, so keep an eye out and stay tuned. 👀
